According to Ms Hasan, female plumbers can do all the heavy work and are not only employed by other females – so they most certainly can do the job.
To a good standard too.
"Women make the best plumbers because they realise the importance of respect. They turn up on time, do a careful and well-executed job and tidy up after themselves," she adds.
If a complete change in profession is a step too far, why not fine tune those plumbing skills by taking part in a course, such as those offered by Able Skills or Avand?
After all, you can’t leave the hubby struggling with that sink forever. tel 07429 652 591

Hafida Sarachi, Dragon’s Den contestant and founder of female trades service HandyGirl, comments: “There is an increasing demand for female tradesman services from both male and female consumers. People come to HandyGirl for the reason that our ethos consists of reliability and sincerity, and not only do I find that other women like to take into service a female tradesperson for security factors, but men once in a while also like better the service we can provide. Unfortunately there are even very few women going into the trades, so I would encourage more women who like DIY to take up their tools and go for it!”

Women make the best plumbers
‘’
There should be more women plumbers, an expert has suggested.
Then Hattie Hasan wants you.
Speaking to the Independent, Ms Hasan explains how women plumbers are the best in town – contrary to stereotypes of tradesmen having to be … well … men.
She became a plumber herself 20 years ago and started her own company – Stopcocks Women Plumbers.
And if you’re seriously considering swapping your suit for overalls in the near future, ladies, you should go for it, she says.
